Nowadays, we are all aware that we need to reduce our impact upon the environment, whether as businesses or consumers.
This is nothing new to St Regis. We have been in the recycling business for decades. Every year our mills take in c. 1.3 million tonnes of used cardboard and paper and turn it into high quality recycled paper products. In fact, the recycling loop is so efficient that the fibres in one corrugated box can be used in another within 14 days!
All our mills work hard to achieve the necessary environmental accreditations. We believe it makes good business sense to keep energy use to a minimum and we are prepared to invest heavily in the measures needed to reduce our impact on the environment.
The measurement of ‘carbon footprints’ is extremely complex. An organisation called WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) has calculated that recycling 1 tonne of paper and cardboard will avoid 1.4 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent compared to disposing in landfill, and 0.62 tonnes compared to incineration.
