Over £104 million was invested in Kemsley Mill during 2008 to enable it to produce the UK’s first high quality, 100% recycled lightweight paper for flutings and liners. The case for using lightweight papers is both financial and environmental. K-light enables you to make the same strength box with less fibre. With flutings at 90 gsm, the K-light range is made on a converted fine paper machine. The result is a strong, predictable, consistent paper that runs smoothly and reliably on the corrugator. These papers are ideal for applications such as retail ready packaging. The science and technology of box construction is progressing rapidly and new ways are being sought of producing stronger, lighter and sometimes more complex boxes which protect and display all kinds of products. What’s more, you can lightweight your cases with complete confidence as the newly rebuild PM6 machine at Kemsley has been designed to produce a paper that is light, strong, clean and consistent, and also runs exceptionally well on the corrugator. The PM6 machine has:

  • Sophisticated controls to ensure the paper is made within very tight tolerances
  • A new press section that allows improved drying across the sheet
  • Pre-drying controls to reduce tension and minimise the possibility of breaks on both the paper machine and the corrugator
